IEEE Comsoc Lahore Chapter in collaboration of IEEE Bahawalpur Subsection and IEEE SPS UCET IUB Student Branch organized IEEE SPS seasonal school at Islamia University Bahawalpur on 5-6 September 2022. The Theme of summer school was Video Surveillance and Monitoring. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Ali Qureshi, Chair IEEE Bahawalpur Subsection, Mr. Kashif Bashir, Vice Chair IEEE Lahore Section and Chair IEEE ComSoc Lahore Chapter in presence of Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Director Board of Advanced Studies & Research, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan, Dr. Faheem Mushtaq, Chairman Department of Artificial Intelligence, IUB, Mr. Shahid Durrani, Director Career Counseling and Placement Center, IUB other respected faculty members, and IEEE office bearers. The speakers and their talk topics during 2 days of summer school are as follow: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Haroon Yousaf explained different modern Computer Vision techniques and their use in video Monitoring. Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani Director National Centre of AI explain the deployment of innovative technology in surveillance cameras. Prof. Dr. Yasar explained a number of his projects and research topics on video surveillance for military and civil use. Drone video surveillance and monitoring during natural disaster management. Abdul Waheed Deputy Director (IT & Security) The Islamia university of Bahawalpur explained the importance of video surveillance by digital smart cameras. Dr. Faisal Bashir Senior Technical Team Leader Computer Vision, USA talked about computer vision & machine learning in video surveillance. Dr. Suryo Adhi Wibowo from Indonesia talked about object detection in several research fields like autonomous vehicle and drone.Dr. Mohib Ullah (Member, IEEE) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from Norway talked about Video scene analysis and understanding.
The city tour includes visit to the famous Lal Suhanra National Park Bahawalpur and historical Noor Mahal Palace.
The two-day seasonal school was concluded with award distribution ceremony and a group photo of the guests and participants. Dr. Muhammad Ali Qureshi, Chair IEEE Bahawalpur Subsection awarded the shield of honor to the distinguished keynote speakers. The speakers were also presented cultural Siraiki Ajrak.
