IEEE COMSOC Lahore Chapter organized technical visit of Huawei UET Telecom and IT center on 24 May 2022. Mr. Kashif Bashir Vice President IEEE Lahore Section , Chair IEEE COMSOC Lahore Chapter and Manager KICS-UET Lahore welcomed them. Event started with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by national anthem. Mr. Kashif Bashir briefly explained the history of KICS UET and IEEE Lahore Section. He also described the Prime Minsiter’s Youth Skill Development Program at KICS-UET Lahore. He also shared the benefits of IEEE COMSOC chapter and encourage students to join IEEE for their professional career development. COMSOC Student competition details were also shared. Students can participate IEEE COMSOC Student competition and win 2000USD prize money with sponsored trip to GLOBCOM, Brazil 2022.
Secondly Mr. Muhammad Tahir Naeem shared his presentation on certifications offered by HUAWEI UET Telecom and IT Centre (HUTIC). He explained the importance of certification. In today’s world each organization needs certified professionals. HUTIC team has also given one-time golden opportunity to all participant to register for Huawei certifications in AI, cloud and Datacom services. A working group was also formed for this purpose. HUTIC UET Lahore will give training and certification to all participants.
Mr. Asfandyar talked about amazon web services (AWS). AWS is world’s second largest cloud-based service provider after Microsoft. He also shared the benefits of cloud computing and why telecom students should also learn cloud and network services. Each IT company using cloud-based services therefore they need employees which are certified in cloud computing. Telecom students can easily learn these new emerging skills.
At the end Mr. Shahid Zulfiqar Treasurer IEEE Lahore Section and Senior Program Officer KICS-UET Lahore gave a brief lecture on resume writing and soft skills. He shared the importance of effective resume writing. All graduate students should make a great CV so that industry can take them for interview. It is being known that more than 80% graduates do not know about CV and they ended up in depression that why companies are not inviting them for interview. In this lecture, students know the main ingredients of CV making. CV should be customized according to position, CV should have action verbs, unique and attractive keywords and finally CV should be simple one pager. At last group photo was taken.
